Aim:

·        to repeat and generalize the lexical material of the topic;

·        to develop the skills of monologue speech;

·        continue to develop students' communication skills;

·        learn to express your opinion;

·        to improve reading technique;

·        to cultivate an interest in sports.

Equipment: textbook, projector with screen, laptop, task cards, handouts.

 

Lesson plan

I. Organizational moment

v Greeting

T. Hi, my dear friends. I’m glad to see you. How are you?

v Notification of the topic and aim of the lesson

T: Dear students, today we have the last lesson of our topic. The topic of  our lesson is “Sports”. On this lesson we will do a lot of work today. The motto of our lesson is “There is no glory in practice, but without practice, there is no glory... ” Let’s start our lesson.

            - When do we use GO?

-          If we speak about sports ending in -ing we use GO. For example:

swimming, climbing.

-         When do we use PLAY?

-          If we speak about ball games and chess we use PLAY. For example:

football, tennis.

-         When do we use DO?

-          If we speak about other sports we use DO. For example: athletics, karate.

v Writing

-         Complete the sentences with go,play,do.

Mary and John … sailing every year. They also love to … golf. Sometimes their friends ask them to … cycling, but they don’t like that. They prefer to … horseback-riding. John also … ice-hockey and Mary loves to… dancing. In the summer they … swimming a lot.

v Work in groups

T: - Now we’ll have a group work. I will unite you in 3 groups. I’ll give you cards with phrases. Your task will be to make dialogues with them. Then you’ll act this dialogue.

Dialogue 1.

Dan: Do you like sports?

Bob: Yes, I do.

Dan: What sports do you go in for?

Bob: I go in for hockey in winter and football in summer. And what about you?

Dan: I like skating in winter and volleyball and tennis in summer.

Bob: Can you play tennis well?

Dan: Yes, I can. And what sport game can you play well?

Bob: I think I can play hockey well. I want to be a sportsman.

Dan: Oh, it’s fine.

 

Dialogue 2.

Tom: Do you like sports?

Bill: Yes, I do.

Tom: What sports do you go in for?

Bill: I go in for skiing in winter and volleyball in summer. And what about you?

Tom: I like sledge in winter and basketball and badminton in summer.

Bill: Can you play badminton well?

Tom: Yes, I can. And what sport game can you play well?

Bill: I think I can go in for skiing well. I want to be a sportsman.

Tom: Oh, it’s fine.

 

Dialogue 3.

Tim: Do you like sports?

Max: Yes, I do.

Tim: What sports do you go in for?

Max: I go in for boxing in winter and swimming in summer. And what about you?

Tim: I like chess in winter and volleyball and jumping in summer.

Max: Can you jump well?

Tim: Yes, I can. And what sport game can you play well?

Max: I think I can play hockey well. I want to be a sportsman.

Tim: Oh, it’s fine.
